Technical Highlights

VARIABLE PROCESSING PARAMETERS:

  • Programmable processing times with variable speed drive of the parts transport system.

  • Variable throwing speed of the shot with variable speed drive of the turbines.

  • Automatic flow control for the shot via the PLC (optional).

  • Turbines from 7,5 up to 22 kW.

  • Special turbines for aluminium and other media – including non-metallic.

  • The rods forming the troughed belt in the blast chamber are made from polyurethane or manganese steel. Polyurethane for gentle transport of delicate parts like diecastings. Manganese steel for heavy-duty operation with bulk parts made from steel.

  • Hydraulic lift and tip systems for different size parts bins and weight loads.

  • Vibratory hoppers and transport systems

  • Special conveyor belts for loading, unloading and intermediate storage of the parts

  • Rotary buffer tables for intermediate storage of parts

  • Loading systems with minimum drop heights to gently load finished parts into waiting parts bins without impingement.

  • Suitable dust collectors for various applications. Including explosive dust.

  • Gentle Parts Transportation - the patented transport system guarantees a gentle moving of the the parts through the machine without impingement. 

  • Excellent Shot Blast Result - The continuous rotation of the parts in the machine and the high-energy shot blast process produce absolutely homogeneous surfaces of highest quality. The THM also allows the shot-blasting of parts with thin walls without any distortion.

  • Optimum Use of Energy - The short distance between turbines and parts allows an optimum use of the blasting energy without any energy loss: For a comparable throughput, other shot blast machines like spinner-hanger systems require turbines with 50 – 80 % more power

  • Parts Through-Put - Considering the capital investment, low energy consumption and excellent blasting results, THM machines offer an amazing throughput.

    • e.g. bulk parts made from Al or Zn:
      4 to 6 Euro-bins per hour!

    • e.g. forged steel parts: up to 10 tons per hour (THM-S 700)

  • Ease of Maintenance - The THM transport system can easily be withdrawn from the machine housing, on rails. This allows easy access to all areas of critical wear. Maintenance work in conventional shot blast machines may take several days. The same maintenance work can be completed in the THM in a matter of a few hours!

  • No Special Foundations - THM systems of the range THM 300 up to THM 700 do not require any special foundations. Exception: THM-S 700.

Tumble Blast Systems

Gibson Tumble Blasters process multiple parts, ranging in size from small to medium, with a level of speed and efficiency unmatched by other types of equipment in a comparable price range.

 

Gibson produces Tumble Blasters in six standard models with load capacities ranging up to 3,000 pounds or 24 cubic feet. Our smaller units, available with either wheel or air-blast systems handle a broad spectrum of media and fit profitably into cell stations and other operations compatible with batch processing.

 

These rugged machines automate cleaning, peening, deburring, profiling, finishing and many other surface-conditioning tasks on a vast range of parts.

Plus they are simple to operate. The operator loads parts onto a rugged perforated belt, closes the loading door, sets the timer and pushes the start button. By tumbling parts within the blast envelope, these machines deliver consistent results automatically whether working intermittently or non-stop in a multi-shift production facility.

Applications: Batches of parts that can tumble on top of each other without causing damage to the parts.

Advantages: Can run large batches of smaller parts all together, nNo manual flipping or rotating, all sides will be blasted if they tumble properly.

Gibson spinner hanger blasting systems provide a cost-effective solution to batch cleaning. They are designed and built for ease of use and efficiency.

Table Blasters process parts weighing up to 10,000 pounds with diameters up to eight feet and heights exceeding four. Featuring eleven standard models, Gibson’s line of Table Blasters provides the versatility and flexibility to efficiently blast parts ranging from ten-pound gears to heavy fabrications.

These rugged machines facilitate cleaning, peening, deburring, profiling, finishing and many other surface conditioning tasks in metal-intensive industries involving casting, welding and fabrication.

For processing, parts are loaded onto a powered turntable which rotates within the blast envelope to provide 360º exposure to the blast stream. Models with an oscillating blast wheel, such as our 36" Power Table, enhance blast coverage. Features like the swing door on our Table Blasters expedite loading and unloading by enabling the operator to swing the system’s door-mounted turntable in and out of the blast enclosure.

All models feature abrasion-resistant liners on turntables for extended service life. Models used with heavy parts are designed for overhead loading and unloading with either a hoist or crane.
